Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai – Under the Innocent Sky ( 俺たちに翼はない – Under the Innocent Sky ) is a new visual novel developed by Navel (the masterminds behind Shuffle! and Soul Link) scheduled to be released June 28, 2008 (prelude) and November 28, 2008 (regular).
As I can’t read Japanese nor can I understand it, I can’t give much info on the visual novel. However, it has truly interested me and I sure would like to read it one day! :D
Apparently there are two versions, the prelude and the regular version. What the differences are between the two, I’m not so sure. (( Different plots most likely. )) Here are the official sites: Prelude Regular
The title of the visual novel (Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai) literally translates to We Don’t Have Wings. The title is often shortened to simply Oretsuba (from Oretachi and Tsubasa). It is the fifth visual novel to be developed by
Navel and is an Eroge – meaning it’s bad :P
I was looking up some info on the series and apparently it was announced way back in 2006 (or at least I’ve seen people discussing it on forums back then.) It sure is taking a while for Navel to finish this project. Perhaps it will be another long series like Shuffle! was – and hopefully a big success as well. The novel has truly been kept under wraps.
In the OP for Prelude we see Naru Ohtori holding a stuffed-cat doll. Reminds me of Primula a bit. ^_^;
I can’t seem to find any websites that talk about the whole plot of the story. I wonder if there is going to be some kind of supernatural things in this visual novel – like how Shuffle! had gods and demons. I’ve never read nor watched the anime of Soul Link (although I want to) so I can’t exactly say what Navel’s style is like. However, considering how long it’s taken to develop this novel I’m sure it’ll be great – although then again, I don’t know what the average time of developing a visual novel is. Either way, I’m a fan of Shuffle! and this seems to be somewhat similar to it so I’m quite certain it will be fairly nice as well. (Perhaps it has something to do with wings. :P)

Please Twins is an anime television series, scripted by Yousuke Kuroda and produced by Bandai Visual

Please Twins! (おねがい☆ツインズ, Onegai Tsuinzu, Onegai ☆ Twins), is an anime television series, scripted by Yousuke Kuroda and produced by Bandai Visual, which was later adapted into a light novel and one-volume manga series. It centers around a family of three teenagers in high school all living together who are unsure which two of them are related to each other due to a reference from an old photograph. The Please Twins! anime series is a spin-off sequel to Please Teacher! that first aired in Japan on the WOWOW satellite television network on July 15, 2003 and finished with a total of 12 episodes plus a later OVA episode released on DVD. The series was later adapted into a light novel in 2004, which spanned a total of two volumes and, soon after, into a short one-tankōbon manga version (authored by Japanese mangaka Arikan), which was serialized in MediaWorks's Dengeki Daioh magazine in September 2005.

Please Twins! is a story mainly revolving around three high school students: Maiku Kamishiro, Karen Onodera, and Miina Miyafuji. The three were drawn together by a photograph of their childhood home which later makes all of them seek out the house in the picture. However, the picture only has two children - a boy and a girl. Hence, only one of the girls, Karen or Miina, is related to Maiku. The only other identifying feature of the pair in the picture is that the boy and the girl have eyes of the same unusual color; a feature that furthers the ambiguity as all three of them have the same eye color.
The main concern of the male lead, Maiku, is that he is in love with both of the girls, and he does not know which one is his twin. In addition, the two girls are in love with Maiku, forming a love triangle that can't be resolved until the truth of their relationship is known. The three main characters, mostly the two female leads, are in a predicament of wanting to discover their past versus the risk of losing a romantic relationship.
The events of the story are set after Please Teacher! and characters from the series appear in supporting roles throughout Please Twins!.

As with Please Teacher!, the setting of the series is Lake Kizaki, located in Nagano, Japan, and the region and its surrounding locations are featured prominently and accurately across the series. For instance, in one episode, characters travel to Karuizawa, Nagano located on the Nagano Shinkansen and Shinano Railway line. The shopping center, staircase, and Church Street all are located 2 kilometers north of JR Karuizawa Station off the main road. The track that Miina and her childhood friend run on is said to be in Ueda, Nagano, also on the Nagano Shinkansen and Shinano Railway lines just south of Nagano City. The time it takes place is following the Please Teacher! series, which did not occur before 2009.

Please Teacher is a Japanese anime series, directed by Yasunori Ide and written by Yōsuke Kuroda

Please Teacher! (おねがい☆ティーチャー, Onegai Tīchā?, Onegai ☆ Teacher), is a Japanese anime series, directed by Yasunori Ide and written by Yōsuke Kuroda, and produced by Bandai Visual, which was adapted into a manga and light novel, centering around a group of friends and the odd things that happen to them after they get a new teacher.
The Please Teacher! anime series premiered in Japan on the WOWOW satellite television network between January 10 and March 28, 2002, spanning a total of 13 episodes, including twelve originally premiering on television plus an OVA episode released on DVD on October 25, 2002. It was adapted very soon into a manga, serialized in MediaWorks's shōnen manga magazine, Dengeki Daioh, in January 2002, and was also later adapted into a light novel, entitled Onegai Teacher: Mizuho and Kei's Milky Diary, published in March 2003.
The Please Teacher! anime series was soon continued with a spin-off sequel, Please Twins!, which premiered on WOWOW between July 15 and October 14, 2003.
The setting of the series, though left unsaid in either anime or manga, is Lake Kizaki, located in Nagano, Japan, and the region and its surrounding locations are featured prominently and accurately across the series. The novel states that the school the characters attend is the Nagano Prefectural Kizaki High School. This school is based upon the Old Matsumoto High School located in Agatanomori Park of Matsumoto-shi, about an hour south of Lake Kizaki on the JR Ōito Line. The tower of which Kaede and Hyosuke stand upon can be found in Joyama Park on the northwest part of the city. It happens some time in the future after 2009.

Please Teacher! is a story mainly revolving around a tight-knit group of friends in high school and how they cope with several life-changing events that are never too far off from intimate relationships. The main character is a boy named Kei Kusanagi who suffers from a very rare disease which causes a comatose state referred to as a "standstill" whenever he is under severe emotional distress.
Before the beginning of the story, Kei, at 15 years old, had fallen into a "standstill" lasting three years after witnessing the suicide of his elder sister. After recovering, he quietly moved away from home in order to avoid social difficulty due to his long absence, and began living with his uncle, a medical doctor, and aunt. Due to the strange nature of how he came to live there, Kei wanted to keep the situation a secret from his new friends for fear of being ostracized as being too old to associate with them.
After Kei had established himself in his new surroundings and had entered into a close group of mutually supportive friends, a Galactic Federation starship had entered Earth's atmosphere stealthily (it is equipped with cloaking technology, rendering it invisible to EM spectrum detection equipment), approached Honshū Island and landed surreptitiously in Lake Kizaki. (Aside from physical travel of the spacecraft via its own engines, travel back and forth across intermediate and long distances - including other star systems and/or dimensions - is accomplished using Star Trek-like 'transporter' technology.) The story begins with Kei, after suffering a minor 'standstill' while in the vicinity of the lake, witnessing several unexplainable phenomena happening there, and then watching as a beautiful half-human alien named Mizuho Kazami materializes beside the shore.
Kazami was sent to observe planet Earth by a seemingly benevolent Galactic Federation in order to prevent humans from making developmental mistakes. (Later, it is revealed that she had personal reasons; she wanted to see the home planet of her father, who had died when she was a child.) Kei, upon observing the materialization, attempts to escape the pursuing Kazami (who he does not get a clear look at, as she appears surrounded by bright white light). Kazami is under strict orders to prevent her true identity and mission from being discovered (the penalty for which can include capital punishment). During his attempt to escape, Kei falls into the lake, seeming to drown as a result of another stress-induced 'standstill'. In fact, Kazami rescued Kei and, using information from his identification, was able to return him home after examining him for injuries.
The next day begins fairly normally, as Kei awakens at his uncle's home, in his room, under the impression that the previous evening was the product of a dream. Upon arriving at the school, Kei's peers are discussing the fact that the previous homeroom teacher has mysteriously quit his position, and that the beautiful Ms. Kazami has become his new homeroom teacher. Later that day, Kei is further astounded that she is now a next-door neighbor.
During assisting her in moving in, he suffers another standstill, and while in a weakened state explains his predicament to the compassionate Mizuho, who cared for him without alerting the authorities, and thus kept his condition a private secret. During his recovery, he recalls the events of the previous evening, realizing that it was not a dream, and that she was the person he saw by the lakeside. Mizuho's inherently honest nature causes her to admit her origins and purpose on Earth. A near tragic comedy of errors ensues, as a frightened Kei attempts to escape her embrace. An accidental activation of the 'transporter' technology almost costs Kei and Mizuho their lives as she rescues him once again. A rapprochement is achieved, as it becomes evident that neither Mizuho nor the Galactic Federation she serves is hostile, and Kei promises not to reveal her identity as Mizuho makes a similar promise about Kei's medical condition. This is the beginning of a friendship that rapidly becomes more intimate.
After being discovered in what on the surface would appear to be a compromising situation (Mizuho had wanted to speak with Kei privately and had him transported to a physical education sports equipment locker), Kei protects Mizuho from charges of an inappropriate relationship between student and teacher by supporting the idea impulsively given by his uncle to the school's Headmaster that they are married, resulting in an actual civil marriage that later blossoms into genuine affection for each other. Kei's true calendar age becomes evident during the Headmaster's phone call to City Hall to verify their married status, and the Headmaster relents, partly because he, too, had married a former student younger than himself and can understand their situation personally. Both are allowed to stay so long as they do not reveal their status to the other students, and do not engage in any public displays of affection.
The remainder of the series concerns the budding intimate relationships between the close friends, one of whom (Koishi Herikawa) is romantically interested in Kei and another (Ichigo Morino) who he later learns has suffered even greater loss of time from the same disease as he has; the problems of having to maintain the secrecy of the marriage; an interfering parent and sibling visiting from Federation space; and Kei learning to overcome the ever-present threat of another lengthy 'standstill' stealing more of his life, particularly as he has fallen deeply in love with Mizuho and desperately wants to remain with her.

Magical DoReMi was a Japanese Anime series produced by Toei Animation.

Friday, September 25, 2009

Magical DoReMi (おジャ魔女どれみ, Ojamajo Doremi, lit. Bothersome Witch Doremi) was a Japanese Anime series produced by Toei Animation. Magical DoReMi is the first of the Ojamajo Doremi series to be licensed and distributed in the United States. The Ojamajo Doremi series is one of the most popular magical girl anime in Japan. 4Kids Entertainment licensed the original show under the title Magical DoReMi and aired a sneak peek on August 13, 2005, but officially began on 4Kids TV from September 10, 2005 to March 11, 2006. The show was heavily edited and canged for US television by 4Kids as it was released on TV. After that, the show ran reruns from March 18, 2006 - August 19, 2006, then was sent to an unexpected 20-month hiatus. As of November 13, 2007, 4Kids TV picked up the show for another new Season for the half remaining episodes of Series 1. Of the English version Episode 30 was never released because of heavy elements of religion and the kids in the graveyard as those were appropriate to the young audience of Japan, and a total of 50 episodes have been released online as of May 2, 2008.
In the first episode of the series, Doremi Harukaze (Dorie Goodwyn in the English dub), a third grader, has a crush on Igarashi (Robbie), a sixth grade student on the soccer team). Being both unlucky and clumsy, for which Tetsuya Kotake (Todd), a classmate, likes to tease her, Doremi complains often that she is "The Most Misunderstood Girl in the Whole World." She dreams of acquiring magic in order to solve her problems. She visits a mysterious old shop, Makihatayama no Maho-do (The Rusty Broom). At the shop, she meets an old woman who looks like a storybook witch, and Doremi instinctively shouts that this woman is a witch. When witches are discovered, they are punished because of they are discovered by humans. Thus, to Doremi's surprise, the old woman transforms into a small green blob (a magic frog, later given the term "greenling" in the English dub). The old woman, Majorika (Patina), now lacks the power to return herself to her normal form, so Doremi must now become a powerful witch herself in order to help return Majorika to her human form.
Doremi is granted a Magical Tap (Dream Spinner), which is used to transform her into her witchling costume. The Tap is installed in the chest of the clothes after the transformation, and it produces her witch's wand when tapped again. Her training as a witch apprentice (Witchling) is much more demanding than she had expected, and her wand (a Wandaler in English version and a Poron in Japanese version) requires the use of many magic spheres (Spell Drops) to use magic. Moreover, Doremi has to keep her identity as a witch apprentice a secret or she will suffer the same fate as Majorika.
Nonetheless, in the subsequent episodes, her friends, Hazuki Fujiwara (Reanne Griffith) and Aiko Senō (Mirabelle Haywood), discover her secret. Because of this, they are able to become witch apprentices themselves. Through their training, they become much closer and cooperate by redecorating and managing Makihatayama no Maho-do successfully and newly naming it the Maho Shop (DoReMi Magic Shop). Using the improved store as a means of earning money, they are able to buy magic spheres so that they can train and take tests to become Witches and dispel Majorika's cursed fate. When an individual girl does not have enough power, they also co-operate by using Magical Stage (Perfect Harmony) to cast stronger magic. During the first witch test, Doremi and her friends acquire faires, which help them throughout the series. Lala (Loralai), Majorika's full grown fairy, tells the girls that if their fairies are seen by humans, then that'll mark their ending as witch apprentices.
As the series progresses, more girls become witch apprentices, and new characters debut. At the end of episode 24, Poppu (Caitlyn), Doremi's younger sister, catches the girls performing Magical Stage and thus also becomes a witch apprentice in the following episode. Unlike her sister, Poppu is able to learn magic quickly and easily. In episode twenty-seven, the girls meet Oyajīde (Feredagio the Great) inside the Grobble Grabber that Queen Lumena gives the girls so they can capture the released Grobblings. Now, the girls must also collect them to help Oyajīde get out of the Grobble Grabber. In episode thirty-five (thirty-four in the English dub), the group meets another girl, Onpu Segawa (Ellie Craft). She is a famous actress and singer, who is a witch apprentice of Majorika's arch-rival, Majoruka (Patunia). Though at first they do not get along very well, they become friends by the end of the series.
It is said that there might be a Magical DoReMi sharp.
