Yami to Boshi to Hon no Tabibito

Yami to Bōshi to Hon no Tabibito (ヤミと帽子と本の旅人, possibly translated as Darkness, the Hat, and the Travelers of the Books), also known as Yamibō/Yamibou for short, is both a Japanese adult visual novel published in late 2002 by Root, and a non-adult, thirteen episode anime series released by Root and Studio Deen in 2003. Although the characters and their relationships remain basically the same in the game and anime, the storyline is quite different.
The story follows the travels of Hazuki Azuma, a tall, brooding high-school girl, as she searches for her adopted older sister and love interest, Hatsumi, in many different "book worlds". Her search is rather more of a focus in the anime series, in which Hazuki is the main character, than in the game. The main character of the game, the player, is nameless and occupies a different body in different "book worlds", including Hazuki's at some points. After the disappearance of her sister in the anime, a talking parakeet nicknamed Ken-chan introduces Hazuki to another major character of the series; Lilith, the caretaker of the Great Library. Each book in the library contains a different world, and the guardian of the library takes on the title Yami. As Yami, Lilith wears an enormous single-eyed hat. In the game, the main character's constant companion is Ken-chan. The anime series is popular among yuri fans.
The anime is sometimes criticized as being difficult to follow, due to its non-linear plot and self-referential nature. For example, the first episode of the anime jumps ahead to after Hazuki has met Lilith; however, their actual meeting and explanation of how they get to each book is not shown until later. The anime is narrated by Arya, and the common visual aid to understanding the jumps is to imagine him sitting in a messy pile of books picking one at random to read to you.

It was a clear, crisp day aboard the luxury cruise ship Oceanic Star. The massive ship cut through the indigo water with precision on her way around the world. Tourists aboard enjoyed the weather on deck by sunbathing or frolicking in the warm pool. It was a day like any other for them, carefree and relaxed, but all was not as it seemed...A sharp sound split the air and a shudder resounded throughout the ship. Deck chairs overturned, and sunbathers were thrown roughly to the deck amid a tangle of gear, people and personal items. The people aboard were in a state of panic. What could have happened? The well trained crew tried to regain order and, following orders from the Captain, began moving the passengers to the lifeboats.Chaos ensued as passengers realized that their worst fears had been realized...the ship was going down.As they boarded the lifeboats and paddled away, a sense of panic began to overcome them and many passed out from the exertion. At World's End is a 2007 adventure film, the third film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

At World's End is a 2007 adventure film, the third film in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. The plot follows Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner and the crew of the Black Pearl rescuing Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), from Davy Jones's Locker, and then preparing to fight the East India Trading Company, led by Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander) and Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), who plan to extinguish piracy. Gore Verbinski directed the film, as he did with the previous two. It was shot in two shoots during 2005 and 2006, the former simultaneously with the preceding film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
The film was released in English-speaking countries on May 24, 2007 after Disney decided to move the release date to a day earlier than originally planned. Critical reviews were mixed, but At World's End was a box office hit, becoming the most successful film of 2007, grossing approximately $960 million worldwide, and making it the second most successful in the series, behind Dead Man's Chest. It was nominated for the Academy Award for Makeup and the Academy Award for Visual Effects.
Despite the back of the movie's DVD and Blu-Ray covers (as well as the film's home video commercials) saying "it's the final chapter of the trilogy", the fourth installment, On Stranger Tides, is currently in development and is scheduled to be released in 2011
